SOKA-BAU is a joint institution established by the social partners of the German construction industry: the Central Association of the German Construction Industry (Zentralverband des Deutschen Baugewerbes e. V.), the Main Association of the German Construction Industry (Hauptverband der Deutschen Bauindustrie e. V.), and the Industrial Union for Construction, Agriculture, and Environment (Industriegewerkschaft Bauen-Agrar-Umwelt). Its primary mission is to provide social security and stable employment conditions within the construction sector, which is characterized by frequent changes in employers and weather-related work interruptions. SOKA-BAU manages a mandatory leave pay scheme, a supplementary pension plan (ZVK), and financing for vocational training for the entire industry.
