UK Export Finance (UKEF) is the UK’s official export credit agency and a government department, operating under the umbrella of the Department for Business and Trade. Established in 1919, its core mission is to advance national prosperity by ensuring that no viable UK export fails for lack of finance or insurance. UKEF achieves this by providing government-backed loans, guarantees, and insurance policies to UK exporters and their overseas buyers, working alongside private sector financial institutions to complement rather than compete with them. It helps UK companies of all sizes and in all sectors to win, fulfil, and get paid for international business.
