Founded in 2011, the UC Merced Microfinance Project is a student-led, non-profit organization based at the University of California, Merced. Its mission is to empower low-income individuals and aspiring entrepreneurs in the local Merced community to achieve financial independence. The organization achieves this by raising funds to provide interest-free micro-loans to those who may not qualify for traditional financing, alongside offering free business education workshops and mentorship to help its clients succeed.
