Taralite was founded as an Indonesian financial technology company specializing in peer-to-peer (P2P) lending. It was licensed and supervised by Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK). The platform connected individual and institutional lenders with borrowers seeking personal loans, business capital, and invoice financing. In 2019, Taralite was acquired by the prominent Indonesian digital payments platform, OVO (PT Visionet Internasional), to strengthen its financial services ecosystem. Following the acquisition, Taralite's technology and lending capabilities were integrated to power OVO's own credit service, OVO PayLater.
