Founded in 2013 by Simeon Ononobi, SimplePay Limited was a financial technology company that aimed to simplify online transactions in Nigeria, often being compared to Stripe for the Nigerian market. The platform provided merchants with the tools to accept a variety of payment methods, including local and international credit/debit cards. Despite gaining some traction and user adoption, the company announced it was shutting down its services in February 2017, citing a need for major restructuring that ultimately led to the cessation of its operations.
