Information by Research TrustFinance
Founded in 2014 by Mike Kayamori and Mario Gomez Lozada, Quoine was a leading global fintech company. It initially operated two distinct cryptocurrency exchanges, Quoinex (for fiat-crypto trading) and Qryptos (for crypto-crypto trading). In 2018, these platforms were merged into a single, unified exchange called Liquid. The company was one of the first to be officially licensed by the Japan Financial Services Agency (FSA). Its mission was to provide a secure, regulated, and advanced trading platform for individuals and institutions. In February 2022, Liquid Group and all its operating subsidiaries were acquired by FTX Trading Ltd. Following the collapse and bankruptcy of FTX in November 2022, Liquid suspended all trading and withdrawal operations, and its status remains in limbo pending the outcome of FTX's bankruptcy proceedings.
