Founded in 2012 by Genny Ghanimeh, Pi Slice was the first private-sector online crowdfunding and micro-lending platform in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The company was based in Dubai and operated with a mission to facilitate financial inclusion and social impact. It enabled individuals and corporations to lend small amounts of money to Microfinance Institutions (MFIs), which in turn would fund micro-entrepreneurs' projects. The platform was notable for its focus on Islamic finance principles, ensuring transactions were compliant with ethical and Sharia standards. The company is no longer operational.
