Orange Bank was launched in 2017 by the French multinational telecommunications corporation Orange S.A. as a mobile-native digital bank. It aimed to leverage Orange's large customer base by offering a full suite of retail banking services, including current accounts, savings, personal loans, and payment solutions, primarily through a mobile app. The bank operated in France and expanded to Spain. However, after failing to achieve profitability, Orange announced in June 2023 its plan to withdraw from the banking market. This involves the progressive closure of its operations in France and the sale of its Spanish subsidiary to BNP Paribas Personal Finance.
