Founded in 1893, N.V. Nationale Borg-Maatschappij is one of the oldest and most specialized providers of guarantees and sureties (bonds) in the Netherlands. The company helps businesses fulfill contractual or legal obligations by issuing various types of bonds, such as performance bonds, advance payment bonds, and customs bonds. As a licensed non-life insurer, it operates under the supervision of the Dutch Central Bank (DNB). Since 2016, Nationale Borg has been part of AmTrust Financial Services, Inc., a multinational property and casualty insurer, which has expanded its international reach and capacity.
