Established under the Maldives Pension Act (Law no. 8/2009), the Maldives Pension Administration Office (MPAO) is an independent legal entity tasked with managing and administering the country's national pension schemes. Its primary responsibilities include the Maldives Retirement Pension Scheme (MRPS), a defined-contribution scheme funded by both employees and employers, and the state-funded Basic Pension (BP). The MPAO's mission is to operate a pension system that ensures a secure and dignified retirement for its members by prudently investing contributions and efficiently managing pension funds and disbursements.
