Maine National Bank was a prominent financial institution headquartered in Portland, Maine. Officially established in 1933 as The First National Bank of Portland, it changed its name to Maine National Bank in 1969. For decades, it served communities throughout Maine, providing a range of personal and commercial banking services. As part of the major banking consolidation wave in the 1990s, Maine National Bank was acquired by Fleet Bank of Maine in January 1994, and its operations were absorbed into the larger Fleet Financial Group, which itself was later acquired by Bank of America.
