Founded in 1989, the International Securities Lending Association (ISLA) is a non-profit industry body that advocates for its members in the securities lending market, primarily in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Its mission is to promote market efficiency, transparency, and best practices. ISLA achieves this by engaging with regulators, developing standardized legal agreements like the Global Master Securities Lending Agreement (GMSLA), providing industry guidance, commissioning research, and hosting events to facilitate networking and education among its more than 190 member firms, which include institutional investors, asset managers, and broker-dealers.
