Established in 1985 by the Georgia General Assembly, the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) serves as the primary state agency for financing critical environmental infrastructure. Its mission is to conserve and improve Georgia's energy, land, and water resources by providing affordable financing, technical assistance, and program administration. GEFA offers low-interest loans and grants to local governments, public authorities, and other eligible entities for projects related to water quality, wastewater management, solid waste reduction, and energy efficiency and renewable energy.
