Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Bermuda, Flagstone Reinsurance Holdings Ltd. operated as a global insurance and reinsurance company. It provided a broad range of property, casualty, and specialty reinsurance and insurance products to a diverse client base worldwide. After its initial public offering in 2007, the company expanded its operations globally. In November 2012, Flagstone was acquired by Validus Holdings, Ltd. for approximately $623 million and ceased to operate as an independent entity. Validus itself was later acquired by American International Group, Inc. (AIG) in 2018.
