Founded in 1974 in Los Angeles, California, Far East National Bank (FENB) was a full-service commercial bank dedicated to meeting the financial needs of the Chinese-American and broader Asian-American communities. It provided a range of personal and commercial banking services, with a special focus on financing for businesses engaged in Pacific Rim trade. In 2016, Cathay General Bancorp, the parent company of Cathay Bank, announced its acquisition of FENB. The merger was completed in 2017, and all Far East National Bank operations, branches, and accounts were integrated into Cathay Bank, which continues to serve a similar customer base on a larger scale.
