Overview
American Life Insurance Company
Information by Research Trustfinance
Founded in 1921, American Life Insurance Company (Alico) operated as a subsidiary of American International Group (AIG) for many years, establishing a significant international presence in more than 50 countries, with a particularly strong market share in Japan and Europe. In a landmark deal in 2010, AIG sold Alico to MetLife, Inc. for $16.2 billion. Following the acquisition, Alico's operations, brand, and services were fully integrated into MetLife's global business, effectively ceasing to exist as a standalone entity. Today, its legacy continues through MetLife's international insurance and employee benefit offerings.
