Meccano is a historic and iconic brand of model construction kits, originally created by Frank Hornby in 1898 in Liverpool, England. The system is based on reusable metal or plastic strips, plates, angle girders, wheels, axles, and gears, with nuts and bolts to connect the pieces, allowing for the mechanical assembly of working models and devices. Acquired by Canadian toy company Spin Master in 2013, Meccano's mission is to inspire the next generation of innovators and engineers by providing S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) based building experiences that promote creativity, problem-solving, and an understanding of mechanical principles.
