Information by Research Trustfinance
The Japan Housing Finance Agency (JHF) is an Incorporated Administrative Agency of the Japanese government, established on April 1, 2007. It succeeded the operations of the former Government Housing Loan Corporation (GHLC). JHF's primary mission is to contribute to the stability of the housing finance market and improve living standards by supporting the public's acquisition of quality housing. It achieves this by securitizing and providing credit enhancement for long-term, fixed-rate housing loans originated by private financial institutions, most notably through its flagship product, "Flat 35". JHF also provides direct loans for disaster recovery housing and offers group credit life insurance to protect borrowers.
