The International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), established in 1983, is the key international policy forum and global standard setter for securities regulation. Its membership, comprising over 130 securities regulators, regulates more than 95% of the world's securities markets. IOSCO's primary mission is to protect investors; ensure that markets are fair, efficient, and transparent; and reduce systemic risk. It achieves this by developing and promoting adherence to internationally recognized standards of regulation, and by providing mutual assistance to enhance the integrity of markets.
