Cassa di Compensazione e Garanzia S.p.A. (CC&G) was founded in 1992 and acts as Italy's central counterparty clearing house. Its core mission is to ensure the stability and integrity of the financial markets it serves by mitigating counterparty risk. CC&G interposes itself between the buyer and the seller in financial transactions, becoming the buyer to every seller and the seller to every buyer, thereby guaranteeing the settlement of contracts even if one of the original parties defaults. Originally part of the Borsa Italiana Group, CC&G is now a key component of the pan-European market infrastructure group Euronext, following Euronext's acquisition of the Borsa Italiana Group in 2021. It provides clearing services for equities, derivatives, and fixed-income markets.
