Founded in 2016 by Val Yap, PolicyPal is an InsurTech company aiming to simplify the insurance process for consumers. It started as an app that used optical character recognition (OCR) to digitize and organize multiple insurance policies in one place, providing users with a consolidated overview of their coverage. The company has since evolved into a licensed digital insurance broker and financial advisor, enabling users to compare and buy a wide range of insurance products directly through its platform. PolicyPal was the first graduate from the Monetary Authority of Singapore's (MAS) fintech regulatory sandbox and was acquired by AMTD Digital Inc. in 2020.
