In May 2021, paydirekt GmbH merged its services paydirekt, giropay, and the mobile payment function Kwitt into a single, unified brand called "giropay". While the consumer-facing brand is now giropay, the operating company remains paydirekt GmbH, continuing its mission to provide a secure and simple online payment method for the German market.
