It was renowned for creating the Domini 400 Social Index (later the KLD 400 Social Index), the first benchmark index for socially responsible investing. The firm provided in-depth research, ratings, and data on thousands of companies worldwide, enabling investors to integrate ESG factors into their investment decisions. In 2009, KLD was acquired by RiskMetrics, which was then acquired by MSCI in 2010.
