Originally founded as BICRO (Business Innovation Croatian Agency) in 1998 to support technology and innovation-based entrepreneurship, the agency merged with the Croatian Agency for Small and Medium Enterprises (HAMAG) in 2014 to form HAMAG-BICRO. Its mission is to support the founding and development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by facilitating access to financing. The agency achieves this by providing a range of services including grants, guarantees for bank loans, micro-loans, and venture capital investments, playing a key role in the Croatian economic development strategy.
