Established in 1954, Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad (Bank Rakyat) is the largest Islamic cooperative bank in Malaysia. It operates under the Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad Act 1978 and is regulated by Bank Negara Malaysia. The bank transformed its operations to be fully based on the Shariah system in 2002. Its mission is to assist in improving the economic well-being of its members by providing financing and encouraging investment, while its vision is to become the Number 1 Progressive Islamic Cooperative Bank in Malaysia.
