Founded in 1948 as a financial resource for U.S. Air Force personnel in Alaska, the institution grew to become Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, one of the largest credit unions in the United States. It served a diverse membership base with a mission to provide service, value, and convenience. On April 1, 2023, following a merger with Washington-based Global Credit Union, the combined entity officially rebranded and now operates under the single name "Global Credit Union," continuing its member-focused financial services with an expanded presence.
