ABLE United is the State of Florida's tax-advantaged savings and investment program for eligible individuals with disabilities. It was established following the passage of the federal Stephen Beck, Jr. Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act of 2014. Administered by the Florida Prepaid College Board, the program's mission is to encourage and assist with saving private funds to support individuals with disabilities in maintaining their health, independence, and quality of life. Funds in an ABLE United account can grow tax-free and do not affect an individual's eligibility for certain means-tested government benefit programs like SSI and Medicaid, providing a powerful tool for financial security.
