Founded in the late 1960s as the Technical Securities Analysts Association (TSAA), the organization was incorporated in 1973 as a not-for-profit association. It later rebranded to the Market Technicians Association (MTA) and is now known as the CMT Association. The organization's mission is to establish, maintain, and encourage the highest standards of professional competence, ethics, and conduct among its members. It serves the global financial community by providing education, fostering a network for the exchange of information and ideas, and administering the Chartered Market Technician (CMT) Program, which is the preeminent, global designation for practitioners of technical analysis.
