Talmer Bancorp, Inc. was a financial holding company headquartered in Troy, Michigan. Founded in 2009 with a mission to build a strong community bank, it grew significantly by acquiring several distressed or failed banks in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis. Operating as Talmer Bank and Trust, it offered a full suite of banking services, including commercial and retail banking, mortgage lending, and wealth management, primarily serving communities in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. In August 2016, Talmer Bancorp was acquired by Chemical Financial Corporation, ceasing to exist as an independent entity.
