Founded by Joselito Lizarondo, Swipe's mission was to bridge the gap between cryptocurrencies and traditional finance. Its core products were the Swipe Wallet and the Swipe Visa Debit Card, which allowed users to buy, sell, and spend a wide range of cryptocurrencies at any location that accepted Visa. In 2020, the major cryptocurrency exchange Binance acquired a majority stake in Swipe, completing the full acquisition in late 2021. Subsequently, Binance discontinued the standalone Swipe card program and migrated its users to the Binance Card. The Swipe brand and its native SXP token have since transitioned to become Solar (SXP), a community-driven open-source blockchain project.
