Scottrade
Information by Research Trustfinance
Founded in 1980 by Rodger O. Riney, Scottrade was a stock brokerage firm headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. The company was a pioneer in the discount brokerage industry, offering a platform for self-directed retail investors to trade stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, and other financial instruments at a low cost. A key differentiator for Scottrade was its extensive network of over 500 physical branch offices across the United States, which provided in-person support in an era of increasingly online-only competitors. In 2017, Scottrade was acquired by TD Ameritrade for $4 billion. Subsequently, The Charles Schwab Corporation acquired TD Ameritrade in 2020, and the final integration of all Scottrade and TD Ameritrade client accounts onto the Schwab platform was completed in 2024.
