Founded in 1889, rt health is Australia's first registered health fund, originally established to serve transport industry workers. Over its 130+ year history, it expanded to cover workers and their families in the energy and other related industries, operating as a not-for-profit, member-owned fund. In November 2021, rt health members voted to merge with The Hospitals Contribution Fund of Australia (HCF), another of Australia's largest not-for-profit health insurers. Today, rt health operates as a dedicated division within HCF, continuing its mission to provide health insurance to its traditional membership base.
