Originally founded as Newport Credit Union in 1989, it adopted the trading name Robert Owen Credit Union in 2012. It is a financial co-operative owned and controlled by its members, operating on a not-for-profit basis. The credit union's mission is to provide its members with access to straightforward, affordable financial services, including savings accounts and personal loans, promoting financial well-being within the local community.
