The Rhode Island Housing and Mortgage Finance Corporation (RIHousing) is a publicly chartered housing finance agency created by the Rhode Island General Assembly in 1973. Its mission is to provide affordable housing solutions for the residents of Rhode Island. Functioning as a self-sustaining entity, RIHousing is privately financed through the sale of bonds in the capital markets and does not use state tax dollars for its operations. The corporation works with a network of partners to offer a comprehensive range of programs, including low-interest mortgages for first-time homebuyers, financing for the development of affordable rental housing, and support for homeless assistance and lead-safe home initiatives.
