It became a significant player in the early days of digital music. In 2011, Rhapsody acquired the Napster brand and subscriber base from Best Buy. In 2016, in a move to leverage a more globally recognized name, Rhapsody rebranded its entire service to Napster. The underlying company, Rhapsody International Inc., continues to operate the service under the Napster brand, offering music streaming subscriptions and a B2B "Powered by Napster" platform-as-a-service.
