OptiFi was a DeFi protocol launched on the Solana mainnet in August 2022, designed to offer users a platform for trading cryptocurrency options. Its mission was to provide a capital-efficient and user-friendly options trading experience. Tragically, on August 29, 2022, just weeks after its launch, the development team made a critical error while attempting to update the platform's code. A command accidentally and permanently closed the OptiFi mainnet program, locking approximately $661,000 in user funds and assets within the contract. After assessing the situation, the team concluded that the funds were irrecoverable and announced the permanent closure of the project, committing to manually returning all remaining user deposits and compensating for the locked assets.
