The NHS Counter Fraud Authority (NHSCFA) is the single, expert, intelligence-led organisation responsible for tackling fraud, bribery, and corruption in the NHS and wider health service in England and Wales. Established in November 2017, it replaced its predecessor, NHS Protect. The NHSCFA's mission is to protect NHS resources from economic crime, ensuring that public money is used for its intended purpose of patient care. It achieves this through intelligence gathering, investigation, prosecution, prevention strategies, and seeking financial redress.
