The company's model focused on partnering with POS developers and resellers to deliver seamless payment solutions to merchants. In May 2014, Mercury was acquired by Vantiv for $1.65 billion. Vantiv later acquired Worldpay in 2017 and rebranded the combined entity as Worldpay, Inc. In 2019, Fidelity National Information Services (FIS) acquired Worldpay, and the services of the former Mercury Payment Systems now operate under the FIS and Worldpay brands.
