International Securities Exchange Holdings
Information by Research Trustfinance
Founded in 2000, the International Securities Exchange (ISE) pioneered equity options trading by launching the first fully electronic U.S. options exchange. The company grew to operate three U.S. options exchanges: ISE, ISE Gemini, and ISE Mercury. After being acquired by Deutsche Börse Group's Eurex in 2007, the holding company was subsequently acquired by Nasdaq, Inc. for $1.1 billion in a deal that closed in June 2016. Following the acquisition, ISE's business and exchanges were fully integrated into Nasdaq's U.S. options market structure and rebranded as Nasdaq ISE, Nasdaq GEMX, and Nasdaq MRX, respectively.
