Greenhill Cogent was formed in early 2015 after Greenhill & Co. acquired Cogent Partners, a market leader in secondary advisory for private equity assets. The unit specialized in providing strategic advice to limited partners (LPs) and general partners (GPs) on structuring and executing the sale of interests in private equity funds and direct company portfolios. In late 2015, Greenhill sold its capital advisory business, including Greenhill Cogent, to PJT Partners. The team and its functions were integrated into PJT Park Hill, where it continues to operate as a prominent secondary advisory practice.
