Information by Research Trustfinance
The Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati is one of 11 FHLBanks in a national system created by the U.S. Congress in 1932 to support housing finance. As a cooperative, it is entirely owned by its member financial institutions, which include commercial banks, thrifts, credit unions, and insurance companies. The FHLB Cincinnati's core mission is to provide its members in Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee with a reliable source of liquidity through credit products (advances), and to support affordable housing and community development through its various programs. It raises funds by issuing debt securities in the global capital markets, which are not guaranteed by the U.S. government.
