It provides a framework, including the Tendermint BFT consensus engine and the Cosmos SDK, for developers to build their own sovereign, application-specific blockchains. The core mission is to enable these distinct blockchains to communicate with each other in a decentralized way through its Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol, creating a vast, interconnected network.
