Founded in 2010, Auka was a pioneer in mobile payments, launching the first mobile payments system in Norway (mCASH), which was later sold to SpareBank 1 and rebranded as Vipps. The company's mission is to make it as easy to transfer money as it is to send a text message. Leveraging its experience, Auka developed Settle, a mobile payment app and network aimed at creating a pan-European standard for instant, mobile-based transactions for both consumers and merchants. In 2021, Auka was acquired by Settle Group, which continues to operate and expand the Settle platform.
