Founded in 2022 by Segun Adeyemi, Olamide Sobo, and Gbekeloluwa Olufotebi, Anchor is a Y Combinator-backed (S22 batch) financial technology company. Its mission is to abstract the complexities of building financial products in Africa. Through its API-based platform, Anchor provides the necessary infrastructure for other businesses—from startups to large enterprises—to offer financial services such as creating bank accounts, issuing cards, facilitating money movement, and offering savings and investment products without needing to build the underlying infrastructure from scratch or secure a banking license themselves.
