Formed in 2011 through the merger of three smaller credit unions, 6 Towns Credit Union operates as a financial co-operative owned and controlled by its members. Its mission is to promote thrift by offering a secure place for members to save and to provide access to affordable credit at fair interest rates. As a not-for-profit entity, any surplus generated is returned to its members through dividends or reinvested to improve services, rather than being paid to external shareholders.
