Originally established as Euler Hermes Rating GmbH in 2001, the company is a subsidiary of the global trade credit insurer Allianz Trade (formerly Euler Hermes). In 2022, the entire Euler Hermes group, including the rating agency, was rebranded to Allianz Trade to align with its parent company, Allianz SE. Allianz Trade Rating GmbH specializes in providing independent credit risk assessments and ratings for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as mid-cap companies, primarily in the German-speaking markets. It is registered and supervised by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) as a credit rating agency (CRA) in the European Union.
