Stichting Pensioenfonds voor Huisartsen (SPH) is the industry pension fund for general practitioners in the Netherlands. Participation in the SPH pension scheme is made mandatory by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment. The foundation's primary mission is to provide a comprehensive and affordable pension for approximately 24,000 (current and former) general practitioners and their relatives. SPH manages the collected pension contributions by investing them with the goal of achieving a stable return to ensure future pension payments. The fund is governed by a board composed of representatives of general practitioners, pensioners, and employees, with its administration and asset management outsourced to specialized financial service providers.
