Founded in 2002 by Chris Shumway, a "Tiger Cub" who previously worked at Julian Robertson's Tiger Management, Shumway Capital was a significant long/short equity hedge fund manager. In March 2011, the founder announced the decision to return all outside capital to investors and restructure the firm into a private family office to manage his personal wealth, citing a desire to spend more time with his family and pursue other interests.
