Originally founded as Shriram Transport Finance Company (STFC) in 1979, the company established itself as a leader in financing pre-owned and new commercial vehicles, catering primarily to small road transport operators and first-time buyers. The company's mission has been to empower underserved communities by providing them with access to credit. In December 2022, Shriram Transport Finance Company merged with Shriram City Union Finance and Shriram Capital to form a new single entity, "Shriram Finance Limited," creating a diversified financial services powerhouse in India offering vehicle finance, business loans, personal loans, fixed deposits, and other credit products.
