As a key public institution within the Belgian social security system, RIZIV-INAMI is responsible for the organization, management, and financial oversight of compulsory health and disability insurance. Its mission is to ensure that all individuals covered by social security in Belgium have access to necessary healthcare and receive replacement income in case of incapacity to work. It works in close collaboration with various partners, including health insurance funds (mutuelles/ziekenfondsen), healthcare providers, and other government bodies, to regulate the healthcare system and manage its budget.
